In Durango, Colorado, a 41-year-old woman who was allegedly intoxicated was apprehended after assaulting a mattress store mascot. The incident occurred on September 27th outside The Mattress Outlet, located approximately 20 miles north of the New Mexico border. The store’s mascot, known as Matty, stands at six feet tall.
The employee inside the Matty costume had only just begun his shift when the woman approached and initially started hugging him. However, her behavior quickly turned aggressive. Described as “intoxicated to an extreme degree” by the store manager, she began shoving and attempting to trip Matty, eventually succeeding in knocking him down. She then stood over him, shouting profanities.
Matty managed to get back on his feet, retreat inside the store, and secure the door while staff called 911. Meanwhile, the woman continued to pound on the door and even threw an outdoor sign. Law enforcement located and arrested her about a block away, charging her with assault.
