Be mindful to vets, pets and children with special needs this Fourth of July

CHICAGO – As we celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with fireworks, it’s important to be mindful of our military veterans, children with special needs and even our pets. The Department of Veterans Affairs warns loud blasts and flashing lights can sometimes induce panic attacks for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The National Autistic Society says the unexpected nature of displays can cause anxiety and stress, especially for those with sensory issues. According to the American Kennel Club, more pets run away on the 4th of July than any other day of the year because of the explosions and sadly, many of those pets do not find their way back home.
