Streator’s board nods window beautification

STREATOR – Streator High School’s board agreed to move forward in plans to beautify five windows on the east side of their gymnasium. Some board members commented on the facade of the five windows overlooking Bloomington Street, describing them as white blobs. Superintendent Matt Seaton says the proposed aluminum battens would cost $10,000 total and is purely aesthetic. Architect Brice Alt says the decorative pieces and the windows themselves emulate glass block, a popular look in the 30s.
