STREATOR – Streator’s Riverside area flood rehab project will begin this fall. At Wednesday night’s meeting, the council awarded a contract to Opperman Construction for just over $472,000 to install an additional sanitary and storm pump at the Riverside lift station to reduce the potential for basement backups in the area. A failed storm water outfall located at the south end of Second Avenue and closure of the lower Vermillion River levee at the Bridge Street bridge will also be included in the project. City Engineer Jeremy Palm says the project stems from a 2013 flooding.
