GAINESVILLE, FL — A man in Gainesville was taking photos of a hearse for advertisements when he decided that the vehicle needed to go for a joy ride with him as the driver. Employees of the funeral home heard a loud bang and looked outside to see the man had crashed into a pillar, causing $8,000 worth of damage and he then sped off. Authorities were able to catch up with him later when he had caused a seven-vehicle pile-up. Authorities found him standing outside of the hearse with the keys in his pocket. When authorities asked him who was driving he pointed to himself. He told them that his dad gave him permission to drive the vehicle. The funeral home and hearse are not affiliated with his family.
