PRINCETON – A multi unit fire in Princeton on Monday sent six residents to the hospital and injured one police officer. At 1 AM Princeton Police and Fire were called to the 600 block of East Peru Street, where Princeton Police Officer Dustin Schaill and Sergeant Dan Jaeger helped four occupants, two adults and two children, jump from a roof to safety. During the escape of one of the adults, Sergeant Jaeger sustained serious injuries to his leg, breaking it in multiple places. Multiple agencies were summoned to the scene and the building sustained heavy damage. The Red Cross and Princeton Fire Chaplain Scott Schmidt are working to find housing for the displaced residents.
